Certificate in Bank Regulation and Risk Management (CertBRRM)

 

Overview

The Certificate in Bank Regulation and Risk Management (CertBRRM) is a professional training program that aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge base and useful skills to tackle real-world regulatory, compliance and risk management challenges. CertBRRM is the ideal qualification for anyone in the financial services sector looking to gain a solid foundation in the theory and practice of bank regulation, risk management and compliance. As a professional designation, CertBRRM is a powerful way to demonstrate expertise in the field of bank regulation and risk management.

Instructor

The CertBRRM program is delivered by Professor Dr. Mete Feridun, who is a former Senior Supervisor at the Bank of England's Prudential Regulation Authority, where he was in charge of the supervision of global systemically important banks (G-SIBs), and the UK Financial Conduct Authority, where he was responsible for the oversight of the implementation of the structural reform in the UK banking sector. Professor Feridun has also served as a regulatory consultant at the Financial Services Risk and Regulation practice at PwC in London, where he provided regulatory consulting and delivered professional training to the senior management of global banks and investment firms. Professor Feridun has also served as a financial sector consultant for the World Bank and has worked for one of the leading global regulatory technology (RegTech) firms based in London as a senior researcher. An author of two books on banking regulation, Prof. Feridun has held visiting positions with the University of Oxford Faculty of Law, Cambridge University Department of Economics and LSE Systemic Risk Centre. A Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Professor Feridun is also a Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA).

Accreditation 

CertBRRM is a professional designation awarded by Eastern Mediterranean University, which ranks within the 201-250 Band in the Business and Economics Field of Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The Business and Economics Faculty of the university is a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The certificate is provided jointly by the Eastern Mediterranean University Continuing Education Center, a full member of the European University Continuing Education Network. The CertBRRM complies with the universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.


Course delivery format

The CertBRRM program is delivered through one of the following modes:

Online: The program can be delivered entirely online based on pre-recorded sessions, self-directed study and online coaching to suit participants' schedules. This means participants can learn from anywhere in the world at their own pace via distance learning supported by live online sessions with real-time instructor-student interaction. 

On-site: Professional Certificate in Bank Regulation and Risk Management program can be delivered on-site. On-site training can save attendees both time and travel expenses. We can fit onsite training into the attendees' schedule and conduct it at a convenient venue. 

On-campus: For groups of students, Professional Certificate in Bank Regulation and Risk Management program can be delivered on the Eastern Mediterranean University campus in Cyprus, typically during summer school.

Enrollment Requirements

While the curriculum of the CertBRRM program is specifically tailored to current practitioners, such as regulators, compliance officers or risk management professionals, university students, who are eager to learn and join one of the fastest-growing careers in the financial services industry are also welcome to join. No prior qualifications are required but applicants are expected to have a basic understanding of the financial services sector.

Enrollment timeline

The duration of the CertBRRM program depends on the progress of each participant. However, it is expected that participants complete the program by taking the qualification examination within a two-month period. Applications for enrollment are open on a rolling basis so prospective participants can apply at any time. The program normally starts during the first week of the month. 

Program fee

The regular CertBRRM fee is €1000. However, 50% fee waivers are available to individuals from developing countries as per the World Bank Classification of low- & middle-income countries. The Fee covers all training materials. There are no additional course materials or textbooks that are required to be purchased separately. To support the self-directed study, participants will receive access to online learning materials, live lessons, webinars and a dedicated student support team.
